Agroforestry for implementers in the Great Green Wall region (Certificate pathway)

Put agroforestry into practice and help bring dry land back to life across the Great Green Wall region. Trees protect crops, feed animals, and give families food, fuel, and income. This course shows you how.

It is for the people who put agroforestry into practice: extension workers, NGO and project staff, technical staff, trainers, teachers, students, and researchers. In short, it is for anyone who helps farmers and communities care for trees on their land.

You will learn step by step, with simple examples and real stories from across the region. There is no single recipe to follow. Instead, you will learn how to choose what works best for each place, each farm, and each community.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

1. Understand what agroforestry is, and why it matters for land, climate, and livelihoods in the Great Green Wall region.
2. Recognise different agroforestry systems, and choose the right trees and practices together with farmers and communities.
3. Help communities grow healthy trees, from finding good seed to planting, protecting, and managing young trees.
4. Use trees to restore soil and water, and manage grazing so the land can recover.
5. Strengthen tree-based livelihoods, and track, learn from, and share what works.
